Where's the money going?
Every year, St. Louis County budgets and spends more than $600 million to deliver a range of services falling within three categories: 1) county-wide services which are available on an equal basis to all residents of St. Louis County; 2) services to unincorporated areas; and 3) services to incorporated areas by contractual agreement. Major services provided by the County include: police protection; healthcare; environmental health; human service programs; public works; tax assessment; low income assistance programs; judicial and justice services; parks and recreation; election administration; and planning and zoning. These programs are funded through property and sales taxes, casino taxes, fees, etc.
